Events for Thursday, Sept. 12th 

Health & Safety Expo

The 7th Annual Health and Safety Expo will be held Thursday, September 12th from noon – 6pm at the Heber Springs Community Center.  There will be lots of vendors on hand to speak about living a safe and healthy lifestyle.  The Arkansas Blood Institute will also be on hand for a blood drive.  Admission to the event is free.  For more information, call 501-362-4901.

 

Events for Saturday, Sept. 14th 

Benefit Spaghetti Dinner

Team Walking Warriors will host a Benefit Spaghetti Dinner Saturday, September 14th from 5pm – 7:30pm at the Heber Springs Nazarene Church, located at 206 South 8th Street in Heber Springs.  There will also be a dessert auction.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children.  Proceeds will go to Relay for Life. 

 

Events for Saturday, Sept. 21st 

Benefit Car Show

The 5th Annual Shine Your Ride Car Show to benefit the Sunshine School will be held Saturday, September 21st from 8am – 3pm at 301 South Poplar Street in Searcy.  The show is open to all makes and models.  The entry fee is $20 for vehicles to be judged and $10 for vehicles just on display.  There will also be door prizes, music and food.  Proceeds will benefit the Sunshine School in Searcy.

 

Events for Friday, Sept. 27th 

FestiVille

Jacksonville Parks and Recreation will host the 7th Annual FestiVille Friday, September 27th from 3pm – 10pm and Saturday, September 28th from 9am – 10pm at Dupree Park, located at 1700 Redmond Road in Jacksonville.  There will be carnival rides, games, a 5K, a volleyball tournament, canoe rides, a kids area, live entertainment and more.  Admission and parking are free.  For more information, visit www.CityOfJacksonville.net.

Depot Days

The 22nd Annual Depot Days Music Festival will be held Friday night, September 27th and Saturday, September 28th on Front Street in downtown Newport.  Friday’s entertainment includes free concerts by Lauren Grey and Eric Gales beginning at 7pm.  Saturday’s activities will begin at 9:30am with the Lions Club auction, followed by the opening ceremonies at 1pm.  Live onstage entertainment will begin at 1:15pm with Andy May, followed by The Jimmy Dunham Family, the Zyndall Raney Band, the Stunning Cunning Band, Cody Slaughter, The Cleverlys and Lee Roy Parnell.  The event will wrap up with a big fireworks show at 10:30pm.  For more information, visit www.DepotDays.org .

 

Events for Saturday, Sept. 28th 

QuitmanFest

QuitmanFest will be held Saturday, September 28th in Quitman.  Activities will begin with a 5K and fun run.  There will also be a mechanical bull, a car show, inflatables for the kids, a baggo tournament, a talent show, laser tag, a hot dog eating contest, a wheelbarrow race, a greased pig chase, a hula hoop contest, a kickball tournament, live entertainment, food and more.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Events for Monday, Sept. 30th 

Food Drive

The Independence County Library will hold a Food Drive during the month of September.  For every canned food item you bring to the library, 50 cents will be removed from your late fees.  The Independence County Library is located at 267 East Main Street in Batesville. Events for Saturday, Oct. 5th 

Hunter Education Class

An Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Hunter Education Course will be offered Saturday, October 5th from 8:30am – 6:30pm at the UACCB Nursing Allied Health Building, Rooms 927 and 928, located at 2005 White Drive in Batesville.  Anyone born on or after January 1, 1968 is required to complete this class in order to hunt in Arkansas.  For more information, visit www.agfc.com.

OktoberFest in the Bay

OktoberFest in the Bay will be held Saturday, October 5th from 9am – 9pm at the Fairfield Bay Conference Center.  There will be an art walk, a kidsfest, arts and crafts, food vendors, games and contests, authentic German drink and fare, and live entertainment. Benefit CoEd Softball Tournament

Junior Auxiliary of Searcy will host a Benefit CoEd Softball Tournament Saturday, October 5th beginning at 9am at the CoEd Softball Fields, located on Queensway Street in Searcy.  Trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams.  The registration fee is $200 per team.  There is no registration fee to watch the event.  There will also be concessions.  All proceeds will go to Angel Tree.  For more information, call 501-230-9421. 

Fallin’ Blackbird Festival

The Beebe Chamber of Commerce will hold Fallin’ Blackbird Festival Saturday, October 5th from 9am – 4pm in downtown Beebe.  There will be a Fallin’ Blackbird 5K, live entertainment, a kids zone, food, the American Legion BBQ competition, games and more.  Admission to the event is free. 

2019 Rural Fireshow

The Arkansas Forestry Commission will host the 2019 Rural Fireshow Saturday, October 5th from 10am – 2pm at the Conway Expo Center, located at 2505 Oak Street in Conway.  There will be food, fun and prizes.  This is a free appreciation event for Arkansas firefighters and their families. 

 

Events for Saturday, Oct. 12th 

Ol Skool Unity Truck Show

The Jesse Dylan James Foundation will hold the Ol Skool Unity Truck Show will be held Saturday, October 12th and Sunday, October 13th at the White County Fairgrounds, located on Davis Drive in Searcy.  The gates will open at 10am each day.  There will be great looking rigs, live music and all kinds of activities all weekend long.  On Sunday, October 13th, a truck convoy called the Run for Jesse will leave Searcy for Little Rock.  Everyone is invited to come out and support the cause by bringing a toy for Toys for Tots.

 

Events for Saturday, Oct. 19th 

Benefit Car Show

The Harvest Fest Car Show will be held Saturday, October 19th on North 2nd Street in downtown Augusta.  The show is open to all cars, trucks and bikes that are 1994 models and older.  The registration fee is $20 per vehicle.  Registration will be held from 8am – 12 noon.  Awards will be handed out in more than a dozen categories.  All proceeds will benefit Forgotten Augusta, a non-profit organization that works to keep the heritage of Augusta alive.  For more information, call 501-388-2057.

Benefit Car & Bike Show

The Tumbling Shoals/Ida Fire Department will sponsor the Charlie Johnson Memorial Car & Bike Show Scholarship Fundraiser Saturday, October 19th from 9am – 2pm at the Heber Springs Community Center, located at 201 Bobbie Jean Lane in Heber Springs.  Entries for the car and bike show are $20 each.  Spectators can attend the show for free.  There will also be door prizes and food.  For more information, call 501-206-5636.

 

Events for Saturday, Dec. 7th 

Santa Run 5K

The Lonoke County Council on Aging will host the Santa Run 5K Saturday, December 7th at 8am in downtown Lonoke.  Each runner will receive a Santa suit to run in and a t-shirt.  Runners will begin at 8am and walkers will begin at 8:30am.  There will be a Super Sleigh contest where you can decorate wheelchairs, strollers and wagons.  There will also be a Jolly Jogger contest for the best dressed/most festive participant.  The signup fee $30 for preregistration and $35 the day of the race.  All proceeds will benefit Meals on Wheels for Lonoke and Prairie Counties.
