Events for Tuesday, March 19th

Project Graduation Fundraiser

The Batesville High School Project Graduation will hold a Trap Shoot Competition Saturday, March 23rd at 12 noon at the Independence County Shooting Sports Complex, located at 3600 North St. Louis Street in Batesville. There will also be a silent auction and a concession stand.  The registration fee is $350, with lunch provided.  Registration is due on Tuesday, March 19th.  All proceeds will go to the Batesville High School Drug and Alcohol Free Graduation Party.  For more information, call 870-834-8836.

 

Events for Thursday, March 21st

Chronic Pain Program

The Chronic Pain Self-Management Program will be offered in Searcy beginning Thursday, March 21st and going through Thursday, April 25th from 1pm – 3:30pm each afternoon. Sessions will be held at the new Cooperative Extension Office in Searcy.  The sessions are free, but space is limited.  For more information, call 501-268-5394.

 

Events for Saturday, March 23rd

Benefit Spaghetti Dinner

The Optimist Club of Searcy will hold a Benefit Spaghetti Dinner Saturday, March 23rd from 5pm – 7pm at the Riverview High School Cafeteria.  Tickets are $6 per person and children three and under will eat for free.  There will be dine in or carry out available.  A live auction will be held at 6pm.  All proceeds will go to help with the youth projects of the Optimist Club of Searcy. 

 

Events for Monday, March 25th

Boater Education Class

An Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Boating Education Course will be offered Monday, March 25th and Tuesday, March 26th from 5pm – 8:30pm each evening in the UACCB Nursing Allied Health Building, Room 902, located at 2005 White Drive in Batesville.  Anyone born on or after January 1, 1986 and of legal age to operate a motorboat or sailboat must successfully complete this course and carry proof while operating on Arkansas water.  For more information, call 870-612-2082.

 

Events for Friday, March 29th

Food Drive

The Independence County Library will host a Food Drive to benefit Batesville Help and Hope.  During the month of March, library patrons can donate food to the library in exchange for having some of their late fees waved.  For every food item donated, library patrons will have 50 cents of their late fees removed from their accounts.  For more information, call 870-793-8814.

Benefit Spaghetti Dinner

The Independence County 4-H will hold a Benefit Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction and Pie Auction Friday, March 29th from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at UACCB in Batesville.  Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children five and under.  All proceeds will go to the Independence County 4-H.  For more information, call 870-793-8840.

 

Events for Saturday, March 30th

Benefit Pancake Breakfast

The Searcy Fire Department will hold a Benefit Pancake Breakfast Saturday, March 30th from 8am – 11am at the Searcy Fire Department, located at 501 West Beebe Capps Expressway in Searcy.  There will be pancakes, sausage and hot coffee.  You can eat in or get breakfast to go.  All proceeds will go towards funding three libraries (one for each fire station) from the Little Free Library.

5K Color Run

The Searcy McRae Elementary PTO will host their 2nd Annual 5K Color Run Saturday, March 30th at 9am at the Searcy McRae Elementary School, located at 609 West McRae Avenue in Searcy.  There will also be an after party with bounce houses.  For more information, call 501-388-6349.

Be a Hero, Meet a Hero

United Way of White County will host Be a Hero. Meet a Hero Saturday, March 30th at 11:30am at the Searcy Event Center.  Children are invited to come out and meet hometown heroes, as well as look at fire engines, police cars, school buses and more for free.  There will also be a Fun Run, in which participants are urged to dress up as their favorite superhero or hometown hero.  The entry fee for the Fun Run will be $10 per person or $20 for a family of four.  Proceeds will benefit United Way of White County.

Benefit Toast & Roast Dinner

The White River Health System Foundation will hold a benefit Toast & Roast Dinner Saturday, March 30th at 5:30pm at the Batesville Community Center, located at 1420 South 20th Street in Batesville.  Gary Bebow, Dr. Andy Davidson and Dr. E.J. Jones will be honored.  Tickets are $125 each and sponsorships are available.  Proceeds will benefit nursing scholarships.  For more information, call 870-262-1834.

 

Events for Friday, April 5th

Red Hot Ladies Luncheon

The Red Hot Ladies Luncheon will be held Friday, April 5th at UACCB’s Independence Hall in Batesville.  The silent auction will begin at 11am, followed by the program and entertainment at 12 noon.  The guest speaker will be Miss Arkansas Claudia Raffo.  Tickets are $25 each or a reserved table of eight for $200.  All proceeds will benefit Habitat for Humanity and Fighting Pretty.

Hunter Education Class

An Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Hunter Education Course will be offered Saturday, March 6th from 8:30am – 6:30pm at the UACCB Nursing Allied Health Building, Rooms 927 and 928, located at 2005 White Drive in Batesville.  Anyone born on or after January 1, 1968 is required to complete this class in order to hunt in Arkansas.  For more information, visit www.agfc.com.

Genealogy Program

The Independence County Library will host the genealogy program “Arkansas’ Women and the Great War: A Tribute” Saturday, April 6th at 10am.  The presentation by Elizabeth Hill will be held in the 2nd Floor Public Meeting Room of the library, located at 267 East Main Street in Batesville.  This program is free and open to the public.  For more information, call 870-793-8814.

Spring Carnival

The Searcy McRae Elementary PTO will hold their Spring Carnival Friday, April 12th at 5pm at the McRae Elementary School, located at 609 West McRae Avenue in Searcy.  There will be a cake walk, bounce houses, a duck pond, boat races, mini golf and more.  There will also be prizes and food.  Everyone is invited to come out and support the McRae Elementary School.

 

Events for Saturday, April 13th

Benefit Fish Fry

The Gum Springs Fire Department will have their Annual Meeting and Fish Fry at 5pm Saturday, April 13th at the fire department, located at 2320 Highway 267 South in Searcy.  Proceeds will benefit the Gum Springs Fire Department.

Margie’s Haven House Benefit

The 2nd Annual “Into the Light,” a domestic violence awareness event to benefit Margie’s Haven House, will be held Saturday, April 13th at 6pm at the Quality Inn Conference Center, located at 3450 Highway 25B North in Heber Springs.  There will be music, dancing, a silent auction and more.  Tickets are $25 each.  All proceeds will benefit Margie’s Haven House.  For more information, call 501-362-6757.

 

Events for Thursday, April 18th  

Benefit Dessert Auction

Imagine and Believe will hold a Dessert Auction Extravaganza Thursday, April 18th from 6pm – 8pm at the Searcy Country Club.  There will be desserts available, as well as other items available at a silent auction.  There will also be local foster and adoptive parents on hand to share their stories.  Tickets are $20 each.  All proceeds will benefit the Imagine and Believe Foundation.

 

Events for Saturday, April 27th

Scots of Tomorrow Skills Camp

The 2019 Scots of Tomorrow Skills Camp will be held Saturday, April 27th at the Lyon College Athletic Facilities in Batesville.  This is a free camp for children in Grades 1 – 6.  Participants will receive two sessions of coaching from Lyon College players and coaches from two sports of the child’s choice, including baseball, football, softball, cheer, golf, volleyball, basketball, men’s wrestling, women’s wrestling and soccer.  Check in will begin at 7:45am in the Becknell Gymnasium.  The camp will run from 8:30am – 12:30pm.  For more information, visit www.LyonScots.com.   

Hook & Ladder 5K Fun Run

The Searcy Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will host the Hook and Ladder 5K Fun Run Saturday, April 27th beginning at 8am in downtown Searcy.  The Fun Run will be followed by a medals presentation and a fire engine pull competition.  All proceeds will go to the Searcy Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, which supports firefighters and their families in times of need, lends aid in emergency situations and provides assistance to those in need in the community. 

Benefit Trivia Night

A Benefit Trivia Night will be held Saturday, April 27th at the Batesville Community Center.  The doors will open at 5pm and the trivia will begin at 6pm.  Admission is $30 per person, which includes a catered meal.  All proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Independence County.  For more information, call 870-793-0090.

Bloomin’ Blues & BBQ in the Bay

Bloomin’ Blues & BBQ in the Bay will be held Saturday, May 11th from 9am – 4pm at Fairfield Bay.  There will be live music, a car show, kids’ activities, BBQ, a plant sale, homemade crafts and Mother’s Day gifts.  Admission to the event is free.

Fire Department Centennial Celebration
