Veterans Dinner

The Searcy Elks Lodge #2247 will present their 8th Annual Veterans Dinner Saturday, November 17th at 4pm at the lodge, located at 3708 Evans Drive in Searcy.  All veterans and their spouses are invited to come out and have dinner.  There will also be door prizes.  For more information, call 501-593-9196.

Girl Scout Interest Fall Festival

A Girl Scout Interest Fall Festival will be held Saturday, November 17th from 5pm – 7pm at the First United Methodist Church, located at 101 North Main Street in Bald Knob.  There will be dancing, refreshments, games and fun.  Admission is free to anyone interested in joining the Girl Scouts.

Thankfulness Beats & Eats

Searcy’s “Thankfulness” Beats & Eats Community Table will be held Saturday, November 17th beginning at 6pm.  This event will be located on Arch Street near Art Alley and will feature live music, artists, a magic show, fire pits, food trucks and Searcy’s longest community table.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Holiday Block Party

The Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a Holiday Block Party Tuesday, November 20th beginning at 5pm at the corner of Central and Main in Batesville.  There will be food, games and rock painting.  At 7pm, the movie “Free Bird” will be shown for free at the Melba Theater.

Searcy Holiday of Lights Lighting Ceremony

The Searcy Holiday of Lights Lighting Ceremony will be held Tuesday, November 20th at 6pm in downtown Searcy.  Kids can also meet Santa Claus at the Santa Hut.  There will also be Christmas caroling as well as free s’mores, hot chocolate and coffee.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Harding University Lighting Ceremony

Harding University in Searcy will kick off the holiday season with the Annual Campus Lighting Ceremony Monday, November 26th beginning at 6pm on Harding’s front lawn in the quadrangle near the American Heritage Center.  There will be more than 100,000 LED lights.  Admission is free.

PTSD Support Group

The PTSD Foundation – Arkansas Chapter will hold a Peer Support Group Tuesday, November 27th at 7pm at 2600 East Race Street in Searcy.  The support group is for any and all combat veterans.  For more information, call 870-243-0447.

 

Events for Thursday, Nov 29th

Benefit 3K & Fun Run

The Wonderland 3K and Fun Run will be held Thursday, November 29th at 6:30pm in Batesville.  This event is for runners, joggers and walkers of all ages.  The 1.8 mile course will wind through White River Wonderland, along the banks of the White River.  Awards will be given to the top three males, females and children 12 and under.  An After Party will be held after the event, complete with Christmas carols, concessions and Santa Claus.  All proceeds will benefit the Batesville Montessori School.  For more information, call 870-612-2945.

Genealogy Program

The Independence County Library will host the genealogy program “Listening to Native American Stories” Friday, November 30th at 12 noon in the second floor meeting room of the library, located at 267 East Main Street in Batesville.  There will be door prizes and admission is free.  For more information, call 870-793-8814.

Events for Saturday, Dec 1st

Santa Chase 5K

Conway’s First Baptist Church will host the Santa Chase 5K Saturday, December 1st at Gatlin Park in Conway.  The Fun Run for ages 10 and under will begin at 9am.  The race will begin at 9:30am.  This is a 5K race for all ages and all athletic abilities.  The registration fee is $25.  Awards will be handed out for the overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, then each age group will be awarded for 1st and 2nd places.  All proceeds will go to local and international missions. 

Holiday Craft Fair

Searcy Parks and Recreation’s Holiday Craft Fair will be held Saturday, December 1st from 9am – 3pm at the Carmichael Community Center, located at 801 South Elm Street in Searcy.  There will be Christmas décor, goodies and gifts.  Admission is free.  For more information, call 501-279-1010.

Pioneer Village Old Fashioned Christmas

Pioneer Village will hold their Old Fashioned Christmas Saturday, December 1st from 10am – 3pm.  The Village is located at 1200 Higginson Street in Searcy.  There will be carolers, hot cider and sugar cookies. The village will be decorated for Christmas from the late 1800’s.  Santa Claus will be there to take pictures with the kids.  Admission is free and donations are welcome.  For more information, call 501-580-6633.

Sherwood Christmas Parade

The City of Sherwood will host their Annual Christmas Parade Saturday, December 1st at 2pm.  The theme for this year’s parade will be “Inside Santa’s Workshop.”  The parade will begin at the intersection of Kiehl Avenue and Lantrip Road and will end at the intersection of Kiehl Avenue and Oakbrooke Drive.  For more information, call 501-835-9599.

Searcy Holiday of Lights Christmas Parade

The 2018 Searcy Holiday of Lights Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, December 1st at 6pm.  Lineup for the parade will begin at 4pm on Spring Street by Spring Park.  The parade route will begin at Spring Park, circle the Court Square onto Race Street and end at Berryhill Park.  All floats will need to have Christmas lights. 

Heber Springs Christmas Parade

The 2018 Heber Springs Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, December 1st at 6pm.  This year’s theme will be “Country Christmas.”  Lineup for the parade will begin at 5pm.  All floats will need to have Christmas lights.  For more information, call 501-362-8137.

Christmas in the City with Super Heroes Parade

The Cave City Kiwanis Club will sponsor the Christmas in the City with Super Heroes Parade Friday, December 7th at 6:30pm.  The lineup for the parade will begin at 6pm at the Cave City High School.  Everyone is invited to dress up as your favorite super hero and join the Christmas fun.  The parade will end at the Cave City Park with hot chocolate, popcorn, Christmas caroling and photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus.  For more information, call 870-805-1029.

 

Events for Saturday, Dec 8th

Benefit Santa Run 5K

The Cabot Center will host the 1st Annual Santa Run 5K to benefit Meals on Wheels Saturday, December 8th at 8am.  The race will begin at the Event Center, located next to the Cabot Senior Center.  There will be three Santa Stops during the race that will include cookies, chocolate, candy canes and water.  The first 100 participants to sign up will receive a Santa suit to run in.  There will also be a “Best Sleigh” contest for decorated strollers, wagons and wheelchairs.  The cost to register is $25 before the day of the race and $30 the day of the race.  All proceeds will go to Meals on Wheels.

Christmas Fun Run

The 4th Annual “It’s a Wonderful K-Life” 5K/1 Mile Fun Run will be held Saturday, December 8th at 9:30am in downtown Searcy in front of the Courthouse Square.  The fun run is for people of all ages and activity levels.  There will be trophies and medals for multiple age groups.  For more information, call 501-593-3666.

Jacksonville Christmas Parade

Jacksonville Parks and Recreation will host The City of Jacksonville’s 61st Annual Christmas Parade Saturday, December 8th at 6:30pm.  This night parade will feature illuminated floats, marching bands, dance groups, the fire department and Santa Claus.  The entry fee to be in the parade is $25.  Awards will be handed out in several categories.  For more information, call 501-982-4171.

Cabot Christmas Parade

Cabot’s Annual Christmas Parade will be held Sunday, December 9th at 3pm.  The theme for this year’s parade will be “A Country Christmas.”  The parade will travel South Pine Street/Highway 89, beginning at Panther Trail.  The awards presentation ceremony will be held at the end of the parade.  For more information, call 501-920-2122.
