Events for Saturday, Oct. 17th

Benefit Target Shoot

Jacksonville Parks & Recreation will host a 50 “Pink” Target Shoot Saturday, October 17th at the Jacksonville Shooting Sports Complex, located at 2800 Graham Road in Jacksonville.  Registration will begin at 8:30am and the shoot will begin at 9:30am.  The entry fee is $250 per team or $50 per shooter.  Proceeds will go to Breast Cancer Awareness.  For more information, call 501-241-2441.

The River Haunt

The River Haunt will be open Saturday, October 17th from 7pm – 10pm at 570 Stadium Drive in Batesville.  Admission is $10 and reserved admission is $12.  Reserved admission allows you to skip the line.  There are also “claustro-passes” for $3 that allow you to skip the tunnel.  Groups entering will be limited to six or less at a time, and guests will not be joined with anyone not in their party.  Cleaning procedures will take place between each group.  Customers must also wear masks and have their temperatures checked.  Proceeds will benefit Main Street Batesville.

Blood Drive

The Arkansas Blood Institute will hold a Blood Drive Wednesday, October 21st from 12 noon – 5:30pm at Pizza Pie-Zazz in Heber Springs.  All donors will be tested for COVID-19 antibodies.  Masks are required for all donors.  Each donor will receive a free pizza and drink, along with a free t-shirt and a free entry to the Little Rock Zoo.  To schedule an appointment, visit arkbi.org.  For more information, call 870-340-8777.

Arkansas Bean Fest

The Mountain View Area Chamber of Commerce will hold the 38th Annual Arkansas Bean Fest and Championship Outhouse Races Friday, October 23rd and Saturday, October 24th in downtown Mountain View.  Friday’s activities will include arts and crafts and live music on the Courthouse Square.  Saturday’s activities will include live music, a parade of outhouses, the outhouse race and more.  For more information, call 870-269-8068.

The 6th Annual Shine Your Ride Truck, Bike and Car Show will be held Saturday, October 24th from 8am – 3pm at Orr Collision Center, located at 301 South Poplar in Searcy.  All makes, models and years are welcome.  The entry fee is $20 per vehicle.  All proceeds will go to the Sunshine School in Searcy.  For more information, call 501-388-2057.

Fall Family Day To-Go

The Old Independence County Regional Museum will be celebrating 200 years of Independence County with a Fall Family To-Go free activity kit.  You can learn how the county got its name, how folks traveled, what animals roamed the land and more.  Visitors can pick up free kits from 10am – 12 noon at the museum’s curb, located at 380 South 9th Street in Batesville.  Kits will be available while supplies last, one kit per child.

Trunk or Treat

The Saint Paul United Methodist Church will hold a Trunk or Treat Drive-Thru Event Saturday, October 24th from 2pm – 4pm at the Saint Paul UMC parking lot, located at 2509 West Beebe Capps Expressway in Searcy.

The Cabot Children’s Education Ministry and the Cabot Church of Christ will host a Trunk or Treat Saturday, October 24th from 5pm – 7pm at the Cabot Church of Christ, located at 500 North 2nd Street in Cabot.  Social distancing and masks are required.  There will be a single direction walking path with low contact.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Kids Unlimited Learning Academy will host a Drive-Thru Trunk or Treat Friday, October 30th from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at the Cabot Aquatic Park.  This is a free drive-thru event for the community.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Boo at the Drive-Thru

Main Street Searcy’s Boo at the Drive-Thru will be held Saturday, October 31st from 4pm – 7pm in downtown Searcy.  This is a drive-thru community event.  Participants will turn on to Spring Street from Pleasure Street and travel north to Arch Street to pick up pre-filled treat bags.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Drive-Thru Fall Fest

A Drive-Thru Fall Fest will be held Saturday, October 31st beginning at 4:30pm at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, located at 1915 Batesville Boulevard in Batesville.  The community is invited to come out for some socially distanced fun and free food and candy for the whole family.

Boo Brier

The Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce and the City of Greenbrier will sponsor Boo Brier, a drive-thru community event Saturday, October 31st from 6pm – 8pm at the Greenbrier City Event Center, located at 5 Lois Lane in Greenbrier.  There will be free goodies and grab bags.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Trunk or Treat

Jacksonville Parks and Recreation will hold their Trunk or Treat Drive-Thru Saturday, October 31st from 5:30pm – 8pm at Dupree Park, located at 1700 Redmond Road in Jacksonville.  There will be truck contests, music and lots of candy.  For more information, call 501-982-4171.

Fall Festival

Searcy Faith Assembly will hold their Fall Festival Sunday, November 1st at 4pm in the church parking lot, located at 2247 Highway 16 in Searcy.  There will be games, a chili cook-off, a cake walk, food, pumpkin painting and a costume contest.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Fall County-wide Cleanup

White County and the city of Searcy will host the Fall County-wide Cleanup Thursday, November 5th – Friday, November 6th from 7:30am – 5pm and Saturday, November 7th from 8am – 2pm.  Just look for the signs on Davis Drive in Searcy.  Those participating in the cleanup must show proof of residency in White County, wear a mask and practice safe social distancing.  Items that will be accepted will include regular size tires off the rim, appliances, scrap metal, furniture, bagged trash and all paints in dry form.  Items that will not be accepted will include concrete, masonry, brush, vegetation, chemicals, batteries, electronics, liquid paints and tractor tires.  For more information, call 501-279-6200.

Events for Wednesday, Nov. 11th

Thanksgiving Food Pantry

Due to the COVID pandemic, the West Race Baptist Church in Searcy will be unable to provide their traditional Thanksgiving meal.  However, the church will provide a Thanksgiving Food Pantry.  You must register to receive items.  Pick up boxes will include a turkey, canned corn, canned green beans, mac and cheese box, canned cranberry sauce, instant potatoes and boxed stuffing.  The deadline for registration will be Wednesday, November 11th and pick up will be held on Saturday, November 21st from 10am – 12 noon at the church’s Family Life Center, located at 1006 West Race Street in Searcy.  To register of for more information, call 501-268-2312.

Events for Friday, Nov. 13th

Drive-Thru Chili Supper

The Literacy Council of White County will host a Drive-Thru Chili Supper Friday, November 13th from 4pm – 7:30pm at the First Baptist Church, located at 105 South Spring Street in Searcy.  There will also be an online auction that will take place Wednesday, November 11th – Saturday, November 14th.  All proceeds will benefit the Literacy Council of White County.  For tickets or for more information, visit WhiteCountyLiteracy.org.

 

Events for Saturday, Dec. 12th

Antiques on the Square

The 4th Annual Antiques on the Square Car, Truck and Bike Show will be held Saturday, December 12th from 8am – 3pm on the Court Square in downtown Searcy.  The vehicle entry fee is $20.  All vehicles 1995 and older are welcome.  All proceeds and donations will go to the Humane Society of Searcy.
