Events for Friday, Feb. 21st 

Benefit Mardi Gras Dinner

The Heber Springs Humane Society will host a Benefit Mardi Gras Dinner Friday, February 21st from 5pm – 8pm at the St. Barnabas Anglican Church, located at 1101 West Main Street in Heber Springs.  There will be red beans, rice and gumbo.  Meals will be available for eat in or take out.  Admission will be $8 for adults and $4 for kids.  Proceeds will benefit the Heber Springs Humane Society.

Polar Plunge

The 2020 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Arkansas will be held Saturday, February 22nd at Days Inn, located at 3109 East Race Street in Searcy.  Registration will begin at 9:30am and the plunge will begin at 10:30am.  The minimum donation to plunge is $50.  All proceeds will benefit Special Olympics Arkansas. 

Polar Plunge

The 2020 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Arkansas will be held Saturday, February 22nd at Woolly Hollow State Park in Greenbrier.  Registration will begin at 11am, followed by a dessert auction will at 12 noon.  Awards and a parade will be held at 12:30pm.  The plunge will be held at 1pm.  All proceeds will benefit Special Olympics Arkansas.

 

Events for Tuesday, Feb. 25th 

Pancake Supper

A Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper will be held Tuesday, February 25th from 5pm – 7pm at the St. Francis Episcopal Church, located at 20 Woodland Cove Drive in Heber Springs.  There will be pancakes, sausage, fruit and refreshments.  Admission will be $5 per adult, $3 per child and children under three will eat for free.  For more information, call 501-362-3311.

Polar Plunge

The 2020 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Arkansas will be held Friday, March 6th at Pioneer Stadium, located at #1 Pioneer Drive in Batesville.  The plunge will begin at 9:20am.  All proceeds will benefit Special Olympics Arkansas. 

 

Events for Saturday, Mar. 7th 

Art Exhibit

The Searcy Kids Art Exhibit from Harding Academy, Westside Elementary, McRae Elementary and Sidney Deener Elementary is now on view at the Historical Benjamin Clayton Black House, located at 300 East Race Street in Searcy.  Admission is free Tuesday – Saturday from 12 noon – 4pm.  A reception for the young artists will be held Saturday, March 7th from 1pm – 3pm.  For more information, call 501-279-1010.

Charity Ball

The Junior Auxiliary of Searcy 2020 Charity Ball will be held Saturday, March 7th at 7pm at the Searcy Country Club.  There will be live music, dancing, live and silent auctions, and more.  Tickets are $65 each or $120 for a couple.  All proceeds will go to fund Junior Auxiliary’s many projects throughout the year to benefit the children of White County.

Blood Drive

The Arkansas Blood Institute will hold a Blood Drive Monday, March 9th from 12 noon – 5:30pm at Pizza Pie-Zazz, located at 521 Wilburn Road in Heber Springs.  Donors will receive a free personal pizza and drink, along with a free shirt from the Arkansas Blood Institute.  For more information or to schedule an appointment, visit www.arkbi.org.

Senior Ladies Tea Party

The White County Aging Program will host a Tea Party for the senior ladies of White County Thursday, March 10th at 2:30pm at the Lightle Center, located at 2200 East Moore in Searcy.  There will be tea, snacks and fellowship.  For more information, call 501-268-2587.

Blood Drive

Literacy Council Fundraiser

The White County Literacy Council will hold their 1st Annual St. Patrick’s Day Fundraiser Tuesday, March 17th at 5:30pm at the White County Cooperative Extension Office, located at 2400 Old Searcy Landing Road in Searcy.  There will be a silent auction, Irish food, Irish music and dance performances.  Tickets are $20 for adults and $12 for children 12 and under.  All proceeds will benefit the White County Literacy Council.  For more information, call 501-278-5000.

Benefit Fish Fry

The 3rd Annual Feed a Senior Fish Fry Fundraiser will be held Friday, March 20th at 6pm at the Heber Springs Community Center, located at 201 Bobbie Jean Lane in Heber Springs.  The cost will be $10 per adult and $5 per child.  All proceeds will go to the Senior Center.

Benefit Car Show

All About Carz will host the 4th Annual Classics & Antiques on the Square Car Show Saturday, March 21st from 8am – 3pm on the Courthouse Square in downtown Searcy.  Registration will be held from 8am – 12 noon.  The registration fee is $20 per vehicle.  All vehicles must be classics and antiques 1995 and older year models.  There will also be music, a silent auction and food.  All proceeds will benefit the Humane Society in Searcy.

 

Events for Saturday, Mar. 28th 

Spaghetti Dinner

The Optimist Club of Searcy will hold their Annual Spaghetti Dinner Saturday, March 28th from 5pm – 7pm at the Riverview High School Cafeteria.  Tickets are $6 per person.  Children three and under eat for free.  Plates will be available to dine in or carry out.  There will also be a live auction at 6pm.  All proceeds benefit the youth projects of the Optimist Club of Searcy.

Scottish Festival

The 41st Annual Arkansas Scottish Festival will be held Friday, April 3rd – Sunday, April 5th on the Lyon College campus in Batesville.  Activities on Friday, April 3rd will include a golf tournament, The President’s Reception and The Kilted Mile.  There will be a full day of activities on Saturday, April 4th, including the Tartan Twenty Bike Ride, a Scottish breakfast, craft and food vendors, a bake sale, live entertainment, a British car show, a children’s zone, sheepdog demonstrations, Highland dancing and more.  The festival will conclude Sunday, April 5th with a worship service, live entertainment, sheepdog demonstrations, Highland dancing and the Boniest Knees Contest.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Scottish Festival

The 41st Annual Arkansas Scottish Festival will be continue Saturday, April 4th and Sunday, April 5th on the Lyon College campus in Batesville.  There will be a full day of activities on Saturday, April 4th, including the Tartan Twenty Bike Ride, a Scottish breakfast, craft and food vendors, a bake sale, live entertainment, a British car show, a children’s zone, sheepdog demonstrations, Highland dancing and more.  The festival will conclude Sunday, April 5th with a worship service, live entertainment, sheepdog demonstrations, Highland dancing and the Boniest Knees Contest.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Easter Egg Hunt

Jacksonville’s largest Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 4th at Excell Park, located on Ray Road in Jacksonville.  All participants must arrive by 10am.  There will be egg hunts with 2,000 eggs per age group for ages toddler up to 10 years old.  The event is free and open to the public.  In the event of rain, the egg hunt will be moved to the Jacksonville Community Center.  For more information, call 501-982-4171. 

Benefit Fish Fry

The Gum Springs Fire Department will hold their Annual Fish Fry and BBQ Saturday, April 4th at 5pm at the fire department, located at 2320 Highway 267 South in Searcy.  There will be fish, BBQ and all the fixings.  Plus, there will be door prizes.  All proceeds will benefit the Gum Springs Fire Department.

The Jacob’s Place Annual Dinner will be held Tuesday, April 21st from 6pm – 8pm at the First United Methodist Church, located at 304 North Main Street in Searcy.  Everyone is invited to come out and eat, and learn more about Jacob’s Place Homeless Mission.  All proceeds will benefit Jacob’s Place.

Fishing Derby

Ward Parks and Recreation will host the 18th Annual Fishing Derby Saturday, May 16th from 8am – 12 noon at Busby Lake in Ward.  The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will stock the lake.  The fishing derby is open to all children ages 1 – 15.

Fireworks Show

The Greers Ferry Chamber of Commerce will host the City of Greers Ferry Fourth of July Fireworks Saturday, July 4th at 9pm at the Greers Ferry City Park.  Everyone is invited to attend.
