Events for Friday, July 12th 

Movies Under the Stars

Lite 106.5 and Searcy Parks and Recreation will sponsor Movies Under the Stars Friday, July 12th at Berryhill Park in Searcy.  The motion picture “Ratatouille” will be shown at dusk.  There will also be food trucks and family fun.  Admission to the event is free.

Summer Saturday at the Village

Summer Saturday at the Village will be held Saturday, July 13th at Pioneer Village, located at 1200 Higginson Street in Searcy.  Volunteers will be available from 10am – 2pm for guided tours of the village.  Admission is free.  Donations will be greatly appreciated.

Fundraiser Fish Fry

A Youth Group Fish Fry Fundraiser will be held Saturday, July 13th from 11am – 2pm at the Holly Springs Missionary Baptist Church, located at 4548 Highway 157 North in Judsonia.  The fish is free, but donations will be accepted.  There will be chicken strips for those who don’t want fish.  Proceeds will go to the Holly Springs Missionary Baptist Church Youth Group.  For more information, call 501-388-4864.

 

Events for Friday, July 19th

Benefit BBQ

A Benefit Backyard BBQ will be held Friday, July 19th from 6pm – 9pm at the Adcock Party Barn, located at 1214 Fuller Lane in Searcy.  There will be BBQ, baggo and live entertainment.  Tickets are $35 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under.  All proceeds will benefit Main Street Searcy.  For more information, call 501-279-9007.

Summer Saturday at the Village will be held Saturday, July 20th at Pioneer Village, located at 1200 Higginson Street in Searcy.  Volunteers will be available from 10am – 2pm for guided tours of the village.  Admission is free.  Donations will be greatly appreciated.

Cave City Watermelon Festival

The Annual Cave City Watermelon Festival will be held Thursday, July 25th – Saturday, July 27th.  This year’s festival will have live entertainment in the Cave City Park featuring gospel music on Thursday, July 25th; Shenandoah on Friday, July 26th and Mark Chesnutt on Saturday, July 27th.  There will also be a fishing derby, a 5K, a car show, a pancake breakfast, a parade, a free watermelon feast and more.  Admission to the festival is free.

Cave City Watermelon Festival

The Annual Cave City Watermelon Festival will be held through Saturday, July 27th.  This year’s festival will have live entertainment in the Cave City Park featuring Shenandoah on Friday, July 26th and Mark Chesnutt on Saturday, July 27th.  There will also be a fishing derby, a 5K, a car show, a pancake breakfast, a parade, a free watermelon feast and more.  Admission to the festival is free.

Crain Automotive and Searcy Parks and Recreation will sponsor Movies Under the Stars Friday, July 26th at Berryhill Park in Searcy.  The motion picture “Kung Fu Panda” will be shown at dusk.  There will also be food trucks and family fun.  Admission to the event is free.

 

Events for Saturday, July 27th 

A Day of Caring

The Annual A Day of Caring will be held Saturday, July 27th from 9am – 12 noon at the Harding University Ganus Athletic Center in Searcy.  Non-perishable food items, haircuts, clothing, school supplies, along with dental, medical and eye exams, as well as other assistance will be available free of charge to those in need.  The ADH Health Department in Searcy will be offering immunizations from 10am – 2pm at the local health department, located at 112 Brantley Road in Searcy.   For more information, call 501-278-3230.

Events for Thursday, August 1st 

Summer Feeding Program

The Jackson County School District will participate in the 2019 Summer Feeding Program.  There will be four serving locations available:  the Tuckerman Elementary School, the Freewill Baptist Church in Tuckerman, the Swifton Middle School and the Grubbs City Park.  Breakfast will be served from 7am – 8am and lunch will be served from 11:30am – 1pm Monday – Friday through Friday, August 9th.  All children will be fed for free.  Adult meals will be available for $2.00 for breakfast and $3.55 for lunch.

Summer Food Program

The Summer Food Program will be held in Batesville Monday – Friday through August 13th.  Meals will be provided to all children 18 and under without charge at the Batesville Early Learning & Enrichment Center, located at 1900 Lyon Street in Batesville; Batesville High School, located at 1 Pioneer Drive around back in Café; and at West, located at 850 Hill Street around back in Café in Batesville.  Breakfast will be served from 8am – 9am and lunch will be served from 10:30am – 12 noon.

Canning Program

The University of Arkansas, Division of Agriculture will sponsor a Canning Fall Vegetables program Wednesday, August 7th at 10:30am at the Independence County Library, located at 267 East Main Street in Batesville.  Refreshments will be served.  Admission is free.  For more information, call 870-793-8814.

An Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Hunter Education Course will be offered Saturday, August 31st from 8:30am – 6:30pm at the UACCB Nursing Allied Health Building, Rooms 927 and 928, located at 2005 White Drive in Batesville.  Anyone born on or after January 1, 1968 is required to complete this class in order to hunt in Arkansas.  For more information, visit www.agfc.com.

Benefit Car & Bike Show

The Tumbling Shoals/Ida Fire Department will sponsor the Charlie Johnson Memorial Car & Bike Show Scholarship Fundraiser Saturday, October 19th from 9am – 2pm at the Heber Springs Community Center, located at 201 Bobbie Jean Lane in Heber Springs.  Entries for the car and bike show are $20 each.  Spectators can attend the show for free.  There will also be door prizes and food.  For more information, call 501-206-5636.
