Events for Friday, Sept. 24th

Depot Days

The 23rd Annual Depot Days will be held Friday night, September 24th and Saturday, September 25th on historic Front Street in downtown Newport.  Music will begin at 6pm Friday night and will include The Voice Season 19 runner-up Jim Ranger.  Live music will begin at 1pm on Saturday and will feature performances from Bill Haley, Jr. and The Comets and The Artimus Pyle Band.  There will also be a barbeque contest, arts and crafts, food vendors and more.  All events will be held outdoors and admission is free.  CDC guidelines will be closely monitored.  For more information, call 870-523-3618.

 

Events for Saturday, Sept. 25th

Quitman Fest

The City of Quitman will hold Quitman Fest Saturday, September 25th beginning at 8am at the Quitman Sports Complex.  There will be a circus, a car show, carnival rides, games, a 5K, gospel music, kid contests, the old timers’ softball game and more.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Flu Clinic

The Cleburne County Health Unit will hold a Flu Clinic Tuesday, September 28th from 9:30am – 6pm at the Health Unit, located at 2319 Highway 110 West in Heber Springs.  No appointments are needed.  There will be no out of pocket expense to anyone.  Bring your insurance information, if you have it.  For more information, call 870-793-8848.

Benefit Golf Tournament

The 3rd Annual John 3:17 Benefit Golf Tournament will be held Friday, October 1st at the Newport Country Club.  Registration will be held at 10:30am.  Lunch will be served at 11am.  The shotgun start will begin at 12 noon.  The entry fee is $400 per four person team.  All proceeds will benefit John 3:17.  For more information, call 501-827-1447.

FestiVille

Jacksonville Parks and Recreation’s FestiVille will be held Friday, October 1st from 3pm – 7pm and Saturday, October 2nd from 9am – 7pm at Dupree Park, located at 1705 South Redmond Road in Jacksonville.  There will be a carnival, a petting zoo, live entertainment, canoe rides, a Kids Zone, a volleyball tournament, a 5K run/walk and fireworks on Friday and Saturday nights.  For more information, call 501-251-4369.

Hunter Education Class

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will offer their Hunter Education Class Saturday, October 2nd from 8:30am – 6:30pm in the Independence Banquet Hall at the University of Arkansas Community College – Batesville, located at 2005 White Drive in Batesville.  Anyone born after 1968 will need to complete this class in order to hunt in Arkansas.  The class is free.  For more information, visit uaccb.coursestorm.com.

Pets in the Park

Pets in the Park will be held Saturday, October 2nd from 10am – 2pm at Matthews Park in Greenbrier.  There will be a Pet Fun Run, a Hide and Seek Show, a pet costume contest, an obedience training session and more.  Pets must be on a leash.  Admission is free, but guests are asked to bring cans or sacks of cat or dog food to donate to the local pet food pantry.

Karaoke for a Cause

Karaoke for a Cause will be held Saturday, October 2nd at 6pm under the stars on the campus of Lyon College in Batesville.  Tickets are $40 per person.  All proceeds will go to Family Violence Prevention and their programs that include a women and men’s shelter, a resale shop and a crisis outreach center.  For more information, call 870-793-4011.

Benefit Golf Tournament

The Cabot Firefighters Association Classic Charity Golf Tournament will be held Friday, October 15th at the Greystone Country Club in Cabot.  Check in for the four person scramble will begin at 6:30am, with a shotgun start at 8am.  Lunch and dinner will be provided.  All proceeds from the event will help raise money for the local charities supported by the Cabot Firefighters Association.  For more information, call 501-507-7044.

Business Expo and Hiring Event

Trunk or Treat

Fun and Safe Halloween will be held Saturday, October 30th from 4pm – 8pm on Main Street in Batesville.  Main Street will be closed to traffic during this time to allow trick-or-treaters to visit the downtown residents and merchants.  There will also be activities in the Pocket Park and along Main Street.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Fall County-Wide Cleanup

White County and the City of Searcy will host the Fall County-Wide Cleanup Thursday, November 4th and Friday, November 5th from 7:30am – 5pm; and Saturday, November 6th from 8am – 2pm.  Just look for the signs at the Fair Grounds on Davis Drive in Searcy.  The cleanup is open to White County residents.  Be prepared to show your driver’s license. Items that will be accepted include regular size tires off the rim, appliances, scrap metal, furniture, bagged trash and all paints in dry form.  Items that will not be accepted include masonry, concrete, brush, vegetation, chemicals, batteries, electronics, liquid paint and tractor tires.  For more information, call 501-279-6200.

Well Done Run

The 8th Annual Well Done Run will be held Saturday, November 6th beginning at 9am at Searcy Lion Stadium, located at 510 West McRae Avenue in Searcy.  This year’s race will be a combination of in-person and virtual.  All proceeds will raise money for those who lack access to clean water.  For more information, visit www.WellDoneRun.com.
