Events for Tuesday, Nov. 19th 

Commodity Distribution

NADC Izard and Sharp County Offices will distribute commodities Tuesday, November 19th beginning at 8:30am.  Commodities will be given on a first come first served basis.  Those receiving commodities will need to bring a declaration of household income and a photo ID.  For more information, call 870-793-5765.

Benefit Book Sale

The Friends of the Library will host the Cabot Public Library’s Fall 2019 Book Sale Saturday, November 23rd from 9am – 3pm at the library, located at 909 West Main Street in Cabot.  Paperbacks and audiobooks are 50 cents each.  Hardbacks and DVDs at $1.00 each.  All proceeds will go towards educational programming for the Cabot community.

Thanksgiving Food Distribution

The Searcy First Assembly of God will hold their Thanksgiving Food Distribution Monday, November 25th from 3:30pm – 6pm at the church, located at 101 South Benton Street in Searcy.  In order to meet the demand of needs in the area, the distribution is limited to one box per family.  For more information, call 501-268-3289.

The Holiday of Lights Berryhill Park Lighting Ceremony will be held Tuesday, November 26th beginning at 5:30pm at Berryhill Park in Searcy.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Santa on the Square

Searcy Holiday of Lights and Main Street Searcy will host Santa on the Square Friday, November 29th on the Courthouse Square in downtown Searcy.  Santa will be at the Santa Hut from 1pm – 3pm.

 

Events for Saturday, Nov. 30th 

Toy/Food Run & Christmas Parade

The Flameriders CMA Chapter 911 will host a Toy/Food Run and Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, November 30th at the Clinton City Park, located on Main Street in Clinton.  Floats and bikes are welcome in the parade.  Entrants are urged to bring nonperishable food items and new, unwrapped toys.  The lineup for the parade will begin at 11:30am.  Santa Claus will hand out toys to children 12 and under at the Park Pavilion after the parade.  Hotdogs and hamburgers will also be served.  For more information, call 501-654-2944.

Searcy Holiday of Lights and Main Street Searcy will host Santa on the Square Saturday, November 30th on the Courthouse Square in downtown Searcy.  Santa will be at the Santa Hut from 12 noon – 2pm.

Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

The Batesville Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held Saturday, November 30th beginning at 5pm on Main Street in Batesville.  There will be Christmas caroling, live performances, story time and the tree light will be held at 5:30pm.  Hot chocolate will be served.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Santa on the Square

Searcy Holiday of Lights and Main Street Searcy will host Santa on the Square Monday, December 2nd on the Courthouse Square in downtown Searcy.  Santa will be at the Santa Hut from 3pm – 5pm.

Christmas Parade

The Batesville Christmas Parade will be held Monday, December 2nd.  The lineup for the parade will begin at 4pm and the parade will begin at 6pm.  The theme for this year’s parade will be “A Cinematic Christmas.”

Lighting Ceremony

Harding University will hold their Lighting Ceremony Monday, December 2nd beginning at 5:30pm on the front lawn of the Harding University Courtyard in Searcy.  One million LED lights will illuminate to campus.  The lights will stay on until the New Year.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Searcy Holiday of Lights and Main Street Searcy will host Santa on the Square Wednesday, December 4th on the Courthouse Square in downtown Searcy.  Santa will be at the Santa Hut from 3pm – 5pm.

Living Nativity

The Living Nativity will be held Friday, December 6th from 6:30pm – 9:30pm at the Searcy First Assembly of God, located at 101 South Benton Street in Searcy.  Nearly 300 church members, exotic animals, handmade costumes and crafts will set the scene for the Nativity.  Admission is free.  Donations will be accepted.  Everyone is invited to attend.

 

Events for Saturday, Dec. 7th 

Santa Run 5K

The Lonoke County Council on Aging will host the Santa Run 5K Saturday, December 7th at 8am in downtown Lonoke.  Each runner will receive a Santa suit to run in and a t-shirt.  Runners will begin at 8am and walkers will begin at 8:30am.  There will be a Super Sleigh contest where you can decorate wheelchairs, strollers and wagons.  There will also be a Jolly Jogger contest for the best dressed/most festive participant.  The signup fee $30 for preregistration and $35 the day of the race.  All proceeds will benefit Meals on Wheels for Lonoke and Prairie Counties. 

Benefit Half Marathon and 5K

The Hope for the Holidays Half Marathon and 5K in memory of Garrett Yeager will be held Saturday, December 7th beginning at 8am at the Eagle Mountain Magnet School, located at 800 Eagle Mountain Boulevard in Batesville.  The registration fees are $55 for the half marathon, $25 for the 5K run/walk and $25 for the Virtual Race.  All proceeds will be donated in the memory of Garrett Yeager to Special Olympics of Batesville and Celebrate Recovery of Batesville. 

Santa’s Craft Shop & Pancake Breakfast

The Cedar Ridge PTO will hold their 5th Annual Santa’s Craft Shop and Pancake Breakfast Saturday, December 7th from 8am – 2pm at the Cedar Ridge Elementary School.  There will be pancakes, shopping, a silent auction, pictures with Santa Claus and more.  For more information, call 501-912-2433.

Janett Crain Fun Run

The Janett Crain Fun Run: It’s a Wonderful KLIFE 5K/1 Mile Fun Run will be held Saturday, December 7th on the Court Square in downtown Searcy.  Registrations fees will be $30 for adults, $25 for college students, $20 for children 12 and under, and $20 for KLIFE attendees.  Registration and packet pick up will be held at 8:30am and the race will begin at 9:30am.  Participants are encouraged to wear Christmas sweaters, angel wings or your best holiday costume.  Proceeds will benefit Searcy KLIFE.

Christmas in Clinton

Christmas in Clinton 2019 will be held Saturday, December 7th beginning at 8am.  There will be a local craft fair to benefit the Food Bank’s School Pantry.  Christmas in the Park will kick off in the afternoon at Archey Fork Park in Clinton.  There will be free rides by the Cowboy Clydesdales, free hot chocolate, a Polar Express kiddie train, old fashioned hayrides, carriage rides, live music, Christmas caroling, cookies and more.  The day will wrap up with the official lighting up of the park at sunset.

Holiday Craft Fair

Searcy Parks and Recreation’s Holiday Craft Fair will be held Saturday, December 7th from 9am – 3pm at the Carmichael Community Center, located at 801 South Elm Street in Searcy.  There will be 80 spaces filled with Christmas décor, arts and crafts, gifts ideas and more.  Admission to the event is free. 

Old Fashioned Christmas Family Day

An Old Fashioned Christmas Family Day will be held Saturday, December 7th from 10am – 2pm at the Old Independence Regional Museum, located at 380 South Ninth Street in Batesville.  There will be live music, hands-on activities and Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there.  Admission is free.  For more information, call 870-793-2121.

Pioneer Village Old Fashioned Christmas

Pioneer Village will host “An Old Fashioned Christmas” Saturday, December 7th from 10am – 4pm.  Pioneer Village is located at 1200 Higginson Street in Searcy.  The village will be decorated for Christmas.  There will also be hot cider, sugar cookies and Christmas carolers.  Santa Claus will also be on hand for pictures.  Admission and parking are free.  Donations are greatly appreciated.  For more information, call 501-278-5010.

Jacksonville Christmas Parade

Jacksonville Parks and Recreation will host the 62nd Annual Christmas Parade in conjunction with Christmas in Jacksonville Saturday, December 7th.  A dance performance will be held at 10am at the Community Center, followed by Story Time with Santa at 4pm at the library.  The tree lighting ceremony will be held at 5:15pm.  Lineup for the parade will begin at 6pm and the parade will start at 6:30pm.  The parade will begin at the corner of Sharp and Main Street and will end at the First United Methodist Church on Main Street.  For more information, call 501-982-4171.

2019 Searcy Christmas Parade

The 2019 Searcy Holiday of Lights Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, December 7th.  Lineup for the parade will begin at 4pm at Spring Park in downtown Searcy.  All floats must have lights and play Christmas music.  The parade will travel from Spring Park, circle the Court Square onto Race Street and end at Berryhill Park.

Cave City Christmas Parade

The Cave City Kiwanis will sponsor the 2019 Cave City Christmas Parade Saturday, December 7th.  Lineup for the parade will begin at 4:30pm at the Cave City High School and the parade will begin at 5pm.  A memorial tree lighting, popcorn, hot chocolate, and photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus and the Grinch will be held after the parade at the Cave City Park.  For more information, call 870-805-1029.

Vilonia Christmas Parade

The 9th Annual Vilonia Christmas Parade, “A Storybook Christmas,” will be held Saturday, December 7th.  Lineup and judging will begin at 5pm at Cemetery and Main in Vilonia.  The parade will begin at 5:30pm.  The parade will end at the Vilonia High School.
